I, along with my sister, began needlepointing at a very young age. Our Mom’s love for it was passed on to us with much patience. I knitted, cross stitched and needlepointed my way through high school! Honestly, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a WIP! My love for the art grew as I traveled and visited other needlepoint shops. The excitement about it was electric! I am so happy that my sister and i have had the opportunity to bring our love for it to Huntsville through our little shop.

I began stitching at a young age after being introduced to needlework by my mother, an avid needlepointer, who taught both my sister and me. I developed a strong passion for cross-stitching and continued the craft throughout middle and high school. In my 40s, I rediscovered needlepoint after visiting a shop in Delray, Florida, called Stitches by the Sea. The welcoming and knowledgeable staff there reignited my enthusiasm, particularly for needlepoint and specialty stitches. While I deeply enjoy stitching, I find the greatest fulfillment in helping others learn a craft that has brought lasting joy and creativity into my life.

April-Manager

April has been stitching for a little over two years and is delighted to help others on their stitching journey as the Manager of Sister Stitches. She loves silk threads like Pepper Pot, Planet Earth Silk, and Straw Silk; a few of her favorite designers are Gingham Stitchery, Plum Stitchery, and SCT Designs. When she is not stitching or thinking about all things needlepoint, April enjoys cooking, baking, and spending time with her husband and two kittens. Despite only having stitched for two years, she is very knowledgeable about all things needlepoint, and she can’t wait to give you tips and tricks to help you with your stitching goals!

Kelsey-Shop Girl

I’m a shop girl at Sister Stitches and have been needlepointing since 2023. What began as a small, self-taught hobby quickly turned into a true passion, and a growing collection of canvases with colorful thread scraps scattered throughout my home. I love learning new stitches, helping others gain confidence with needlepoint, and sharing the joy of creating something beautiful one stitch at a time.

Madison County born and raised, I fell in love with lake life and moved to Guntersville in 2021. I’m a registered nurse with a creative side, thanks to my grandparents and mother who taught me early on how special handmade gifts can be. When I’m not managing nurses for Madison County Schools, you’ll find me working on the next craft or DIY home project. Thanks to my best friend and her daughter, I have recently added needlepoint to my list of crafting hobbies.
